Why does everyone think a tan is fake looking and gross?

Posted by admin Comments (14)

People are always saying pale is so unique (well it’s not anymore) and that everyone who is tan will be wrinkly and leathery. Do people ever consider than some people even if they are caucasian are born with a natural tan? They say that being tan is unhealthy for your skin and to a certain point no it isn’t but it’s also not healthy to stay in the shade all day and smother yourself in sunscreen just to come outside for a while. That’s how people get vitamin D deficiencies and in my opinion it looks about as healthy as it is (why do it to yourself unless you’re naturally too pale to be in the sun for too). Everyone has they’re own opinions but people are starting to stereotype anyone who has a nice tan and say they are better and it’s causing another one of those dumb wars like the hair color war.

Also just one more thing. Why are so many people wanting to be really tan or really pale. Has anyone else noticed that no one settles for just a nice olive or in between color?

I totally don’t think a tan is gross unless it is obviously too fake/orange. I’m really really pale and I envy people born with a natural tan

no tan is not fake looking or gross nor is pale or any skin tone. it all depends on the person whos working it :)

Paler people need less Vitamin D than everybody else. The paler you are the less you need.

There are also efficient ways to get Vitamin D without going outside even though it is good to go out for 10 minutes a day. A serving of milk has 25% daily value of Vitamin D.

Tanning is something that should be done in moderation.

A tan is only fake-looking and gross if the tan is fake-looking and gross. Not all tans are, and definitely not natural ones. I’m pretty pale but my best friend is naturally really tan and it looks good on her. If I tried to get as tan as she is, it would be fake-looking and gross.

It’s the whole vampire stage in hollywood right now. All over magazines like vogue and seventeen they are saying ‘pale is the new tan’ and that its ‘so chic!’ If you are naturally tan or just look funny if your pale then you shouldnt care what others think. Honestly I wish I was tan not like crispy, just a soft sunkissed cause I am extremely pale. But my skin doesn’t burn or tan it just stays white. Once this whole vampire thing calms down everyone will start to wish they were tan. Always happens!

im really really pale and am one of those people that just never goes outside or has to reapply sunscreen like every 12 seconds. its not naturally tan people that look fake and gross. its overly tan people that you can tell are not naturally that tan that look terrible. i think whatever your skin is naturally looks good :)

i also have never had vitamin d deficiency.

    tanning is fake
paying for tanning is the same thing as paying to be burnt
it is way better to be outside than to get a fake tan.

You can tell most of the time the difference between a fake and real tan. Natural tans are hot.

I guess you could somewhat consider me one of those people, but only because I use fake tanners to give myself more of a darker skin-tone. Whenever I see someone too tan that has skin-damaged skin, (dried out, wrinkly, and spotty…) I find it personally disgusting and unhealthy looking. I even think that person is ignorant and think to myself, “WOW. That person must be so insecure about their skin. Why couldn’t they be happy with what they have and have to ruin their skin like that?” And even though I’m naturally pale as a ghost, I personally love pale skin on some people because sometimes it makes their skin look like it’s “lit up” and radiant. Only some people can make it look this way without looking sickly though.

I agree though, to some extent everyone should get outside because of vitamin D deficiencies, but times have changed and people no longer want to f*ck up their skin by photo damage and get skin cancer… which is very common nowadays. It’s good to be outside, but tanning by sun isn’t “in” anymore. You shouldn’t use the sun to get tan anyways… your body needs at least 15 minutes under the sun a day anyways and it’s unnecessary to use it for vanity reasons. I love olive skin/in between colors btw.

    I only think ‘fake-looking’ tans are ‘fake-looking’.

LOL I was born pale and over they years I got a natural tan and people said they love my skin but I hate it and I wish I was paler so not everyone loves their skin. ALso I don’t think tan is wrinkly and some people look good tanned but I hate when they have too go to the tanning beds. Well I am not soooo tan but kinda in the middle.

I tan REALLY easy and the thing is, I’m already dark skinned which sucks. I think everyone should just be happy with their natural skin color. Obviously, now that it’s summer, most people’s skin get a little darker from being in the sun and sunscreen might not help that much so it’s just natural.

I have native american blood in me so I have a natural tan. When people say that everyone who has a tan will be “wrinkly and leathery” they are referring to those that use tanning beds or tan in the sun, not those that are naturally tan. Anybody that believes women who are naturally tan will get “wrinkly and leathery” are incredibly stupid and ignorant, not to mention jealous. Also, my grandmother, who is in her late 50′s and is tan like me, barely has any wrinkles and her skin is in no way leathery, so theres that silly rumor debunked.
